Congrats, guys. A question: Are the casebacks on these bronze or steel? I assume the latter, but some photos would be great. I will be interested to see how these wear. I agree - a fun watch to have in the arsenal....
Steel. I think the only bronze watch with a bronze caseback is the latest Oris 65 chrono, which has some special formulation for the underside of the bronze bracelet it has.
Haven't tried it, but you could always check out the new Tropic straps. Very supple and cheaper than hunting for a nice-condition vintage one.
That’s what I assumed, but thanks for confirming. I will be interested to see some photos after these get worn and patina a bit.... It will be a very different look. Thx! M
The new spring collection is here : My favourite is the Bronze chronograph but i am little disapointed this is a Seiko mouvement and not an in house one. Of course this is a limited edition like every bronzes in Yema collections.
Baby steps with the in-house stuff. They just completed their first in-house 3-hander, you can't possibly have expected them to come up with an in-house chronograph movement and sell it for the same price as with a Seiko inside. An in-house is much easier for someone like Longines who are part of the Swatch group and are thus using ETA's considerable know-how and base designs. My issue with the Yachtingraf is the thickness, it's something like 14mm thick before the crystal dome is taken into account. I'd much rather see a thinner case with a SW510M and a slightly higher price point. Otherwise, once the (likely) steel version comes out I might have bought it
After waiting many moons post- Kickstarter - # 1396/1948 Bronze Superman GMT arrived a few minutes ago. C’est manifique! .... Yema hit this one out of the park ....wowzer!!!
I hope they expand their offering to include 19 and 18 mm. I’d really like to get a blue tropic strap for my Admiralty.
I'd imagine they won't go for 19mm (the 20mm squeezes in just fine on 19mm lugs) but if they expand the size lineup again I'd bet on 18.
New addition to the family. Just arrived today. Below is a wrist shot. This is a vintage Superman 550016 with the correct bracelet, sourced out of Paris. While very nice and with the shovel seconds hand, for full disclosure, it is not the 550016 grail. Upon consulting with other Yema collectors, I suspect this was originally a blue dial 550016 with a period black service dial. Note the open 4 from the 40 on the bezel (the grail has the closed 4, like the bezels on the 530016) and the dial should read “Patent Pending”, which this one does not. Regardless, a nice piece and quite happy with it. More photos later.
Congrats, it’s a beauty! Nice even patina. I am getting one of my ‘63s back from service tomorrow, have been missing it so much.
Thanks, Vibe! I will be very interested in seeing your '63. I have been looking for a good example for a while, and it has been slow going... Good '63s are hard to find...
Hi everyone I have some Omegas but I have been looking for a bronze watch and a GMT watch for quite some time.... Was very pleased when I found this for sale locally, as new and the price was as sold in the Kickstarter campaign.
