I have one Yema: the grey / blue GMT. It has been quite a headache, but after 9 months and 3 round-trips between the US and France (not including the original shipment), it's finally functioning correctly and I can wear it. Honestly, it's been such a pain in the neck, that it makes it more difficult to enjoy the watch.

I first sent it back, because it was gaining over 40 seconds per day when I received it. When I got it back the first time, the GMT hand would jam. When I got it back the second time, the GMT hand was still not functioning correctly - it was no longer jamming, but would "click" and not advance. On the third return, they decided to replace the movement, and it seems to be functioning well now.

They sent me this box along with the watch in the last shipment. It's quite nice, and I guess it's their way of saying, "Please continue to be our customer."

They also gave me some bonus points in their membership program for my hassle. However the program changed recently, so I'm not sure how much those will actually benefit me. Previously, I could have cashed the points in for a $100 coupon, now I have a status that gives me a 12% discount on purchases. They don't currently have many watches in the $1,000 range that I'm too excited about.

Their customer service has been pretty good, so I'm not swearing them off forever, but they're not very high on my WTB list at this point. And I definitely question the competence of their watchmakers.

Maybe I'll try to pick up a couple vintage Yemas to fill out the box.

Here are pictures of the watch in question.

Received my Yema Superman French Air Force limited edition in steel this week and I am LOVING IT! Fits my wrist perfectly with a 39mm diameter and 13mm thickness, and it has gained less than five seconds over the past four days with the Yema in-house MBP1000 movement (https://eu.yema.com/pages/yema-mbp1000).

Looking forward to getting the fully brushed bracelet sized by my watchmaker, but in the meantime, I am enjoying it on the included secondary canvas strap. This is a definite keeper. As an extra bonus, these are a numbered LE, so I was also able to secure my son's birthdate for this example!

I’ve read conflicting reports about the Speedgraf having a “ghost date” position. Can you confirm whether it does or not?

I’ve a GMT coke limited edition as my first Yema, however I just haven’t bonded with it, I think I prefer a 40mm+ size, only worn it for a few hours.

Should get round to listing it really and cutting my losses.

what’s a ghost date? A position in the crown stem?

not a date that ghosted I suppose :)

Probably. I have the bronze Superman and there is a position in the crown to adjust the date and you can feel the advancing of the date, except the watch doesn’t have a date window. I think they made all the MBP1000 movements with a date complication and use it in watches whether they have a date or not. Doesn’t bother me though

Ha, well, it sure can be that too ;) (from what I hear anyways, if my date ghosted me, my wife would have some explaining to do when I got home.)

But as @asrnj77 said, a ghost date is when the movement has a date feature, but the dial has no date window. So when pulled out to position one, turning the crown does nothing with any discernible effect.

I have a Dan Henry watch with a ghost date, and I don’t love it.

yes. There appears to be a position 1 that does not do anything (i thought previously it was for manual winding). I looked up Seiko NE86 and it has a date function.

am not bothered with that. What irritates me is the rallygraf. Has an ETA valjoux movement with date. But yema killed the quickset pusher at 10 o clock. I would have rathered they killed the date entirely.

I just added a vintage Superman to my collection. Its a 24.11.17 model with amazing patina - the dial used to be blue back in the 70's.

I've just sent off to be serviced and a new crown replaced and can't wait to get it back. The strap shown was what was on it when I bought it. I have subsequently replaced with a genuine Yema vintage Tropical strap which looks great.

Hmm - I've only posted here on the Omega Forum, so it must have been a very similar photo and commentary from someone else...

That said, congratulations on picking one up! I am really enjoying mine and hope you wear yours in good health .

You are right, my bad :) ... It was a black version one I had commented on in the Yema FB group.

Though, very similar picture angle, wrist and hairs :-D
