Nice example. Does it have military markings? Which military?

You need to be careful when you use the term “military” around here, we have serious military collectors. Longines/Wittenaur did have a history of making military watches, but if there isn’t clear documentation of this reference being used by a military somewhere on the planet, then It’s just a nice 24/hr dialed vintage watch. If you can show military provenance, please share as we all love to learn.

Hi, I was told by the owner it was 1940s-50s military watch. I guess that may mean just military inspired? I am not sure on this. Someone please school me. Were these Wittnauer's issued to service members in the US?

I recall them producing a line of compasses in the 40s but not sure about military issued watches. Either way it’s a nice piece

    It's only "military style".

Like many watch manufacturers, Wittnauer produced numerous models for the civilian market over the years having "military inspired" dials....a couple of cases in point....

11/16th of an inch, perhaps. 17mm is the closest metric size.

What is the model and/or reference # for the first one?! Very cool indeed!

I have never been able to get the case back off to check for a reference. I will try to remember to have my WM do it once he reopens, and I will shoot your the reference numbers from the case back. I have never seen another watch exactly like it, and have only ever seen one similar to it (photos attached). Assuming the two watches used the same Wittnauer 11SR movement, that would date the watches to around 1960. Cheers
