Wow, just one thread for everything Seiko? Hi everyone, I'm new here. I wanted to share my love for the Seiko 6246-9000. I think it's an interesting story/history for this watch. They "illegally" labeled the model as "chronometer" and got in trouble with the Swiss, and then it was quickly taken off the market and revamped into the now popular Grand Seiko 62GS. What I like is it's basically all about "what's in a name" and marketing. It's basically a "hidden" Grand Seiko.

Some of the 62GS Grand Seiko's still have the lion medallion rather than the later GS one on the back. Here's some interesting articles on it, and a few pics of mine:

Hello everybody,

my entry to this part of the OF - received my very first Seiko today. 😀 It’s also my only non-Omega as of right now - been intrigued by the JPS 6138-8030 for a couple of years now. My issue was that I’m usually wearing dress watches and I’m a sucker for condition, really. That doesn’t make it easier when looking for a tool watch from the 70s. Basically every example I found had some dial degradation and wasn’t right for me - until now. Here she is:

The case has a couple dings and scratches, so it’ll go to the “spa” soon - I’ll have the dings filled in and the original brushing fully restored, at which point this should be about as close to a mint JPS as it can get, realistically, or so I hope. Working condition is great already, everything’s works a treat, it keeps great time and the timer snaps back with a very satisfying click. I really didn’t expect it to feel this crisp tbh. Couldn’t be happier and I’m not sure anymore that this’ll stay the only Seiko in my collection. 😀

So owned this new LX for a few weeks and love the sweep and accuracy of spring drive. However the wind is not butter smooth as you would expect for a 4/5k watch. So much so I’m thinking of sending it back to give it a once over.

I’ve had this for a couple weeks don’t think I ever put it in the seiko thread. Unfortunately I’m working tomorrow, Christmas Day, I was going to wear this but we are having intense rain and 75mph winds sounds like a job for the skx

Some weeks ago, I found the Seiko Monaco unicorn, this Seiko Monaco with silver/blue dial and genuine Stelux made Seiko bracelet.
I have ordered a genuine new crystal and the watch will get a service soon:

Hope, I can get it back soon.

As I know, there are only a few examples of this out there and all were produced around 1973.
Mine too:

Glad, I found this gem!

My collection of Seiko watches is now a total of two watches.
They are an skx007 and an srpa21. I like them both a lot.

What would be a logical choice for the next Seiko to add to my set?

New SPB14x series or other 62MAS re-edition watches, or Capt. Willard...
