A humble Tag quartz. A bit of history behind this one, it is the first watch I ever bought, way back in 1995 in Changi Airport in Singapore. I had been promoted to 2nd Officer on a Merchant Ship and decided to treat myself, I knew nothing back then about watches, hence the quartz. I wore this every day for 21 years until I purchased my Omega SMP300.
It languished in a drawer for a few years but I recently dug it out to get the battery replaced. Picked it up today and strapping it on brought me way back in time. It's not perfect but I still think it's a great looking watch and I'll never part with it. I like that about watches, they all have a bit of history, known or unknown.
Don’t blame me for the candles in bottles - but otherwise it’s a good pub, outside of which Ruth Ellis (the last woman hanged in England) shot and killed her boyfriend.[/QUOTE]
Wouldn't you be slightly worried about going in there with your girlfriend😉
I forgot two things. I forgot I had this watch. I forgot I signed up to work today. Not too bad though just gotta drive around drop things off. So at least I get to do so with which might as well be a new watch since it’s been a couple months I lost it despite it sitting right in my watch box
Gruen Pan Am "Ace" today, circa 1945. The Pan Am models were originally designed as a pilot's watch in 1943, and were available only to Pan Am Airlines personnel until October 1945 when the model was made available for sale to the general public. Here's a link to an article about Gruen during the period 1940-1958 which contains a section on the Pan Am model line for anyone wanting to learn more Gruen Watch Company history: 1940-1958: WWII, Pan American, Gruen 21 (pixelp.com) Have a great weekend, all. Cheers!
