The infamous « devil diver »

You frequently post from Luigi’s. Where in our OF world is this coffee shop?

My new, and newly scratched, SRP777 has been on 24/7 for the past couple weeks. I absolutely love it, way more than I thought I would. But I’ve managed to somehow scratch two out of my three Seikos with Hardlex crystals. The crystal on the Planet Ocean I wore for nine years remains unmarked.

Hardlex ≠ sapphire. I’ve got an Omega Seamaster I’ve worn for over 20 years... no scratches on the crystal. My Seiko 5 with Hardlex has several. One of the reasons I pulled the trigger on the Willard SPB151 is it’s sapphire crystal instead of plastic.

Mostly known for their modern reproduction counterparts, these original '60s watches - Milus 'Snow Stars' - remain vastly underrated.

-edit-
I decided to add a wrist shot picture with snowy background to add to the intrigue.

Yeah, I know… I’ve seen your posts and love your watch. I really wanted the 151 but was just trying to save a few shekels. Kohl's had a blowout deal a couple weeks ago. Another thing, this watch also loses a full minute every couple days.🙁

I get saving the shekels. I’ve thought a few times that I could buy a new Seiko 5 every year for a long time before I’d spend what I spent on any of my Omegas. Even the Willard would buy several years of new lesser priced Seikos.

it’s a disease.

I’m surprised about the accuracy issue. Seiko movements are generally better than that. The problem I had with my Seiko 5 was that the cost to service it was a multiple of the price of the watch. It doesn’t keep time well at all anymore but I’m not paying more than it’s worth to service it. I have to reset it two or three times a day. It’s 14 years old, so it served a good while.

Now that I understand about case polishing from reading this forum, I started wearing this beater while I sharpen the blades on the ex mark. I think it may have been polished during service in the 60s. Might as well be a paper weight.
And who put this goofy crown on? Probably the same guy who polished it.
