It's that day again & as I never got chance to post last Tuesday I thought I'd add a shot of it today! Thanks Dad for letting me wear his red beauty!!
Still my 14-karat yellow gold shell on steel, late 1950s, Gruen 23-jewel automatic, with the German made Durowe movement. To think that, years ago, I made an effort to sell it! I love this watch!
It’s taken all my free time today to figure this gif thing out, all to show how shiny the SLA037 is...
Mine says hello. Twins. Mine is hallmarked 1915. The dial isn’t marked, but the movement is. You’ll want to be dumping that horrible yellowed old crystal. They off-gas as they oxidize, and rust happens.
Hi Canuck, Yes I certainly will be replacing the crystal as my watchmaker doesn't have one in stock. Mine is hallmarked 1915 as well. Here is another I own screw back and front. Cheers Russell.
These watches were made when Rolex was still catering to the retail watch market with private label, watches. These three all have dials that aren’t marked Rolex. I believe Rolex owned either partly or outright, Rebberg, and Aegler. Aegler movements were also used in some Gruens. I just stumbled across a picture of the Rebberg movement that is in my 1915 Rolex. The ratchet wheel,on these models is usually marked Rolex, as shown.
So anyway...this is the rubber strap that showed up last week that I could barely remember ordering. I think it looks pretty good...almost custom made for the Pro Diver! I know...I haven't ground off the Invicta sign yet ! Other more pressing matters...
