😀 Oooooh. I like that. So by winding in a meeting, I'm actually being passive/aggressive rude, but so few people have manual watches I'm the only one who realises? Plus more likely to draw attention to my watch....

Fresh from the mailman! The last of the C-shape, and hence the last of the in-house calibers in "vintage"-times. The 10xx movements have been ruled down and out by some after the first versions had some nasty flaws. However the latest versions, as the 1021 in this one, is said to be rather good movements. Blue dial Constellation Cal1021 ST 168.0057 on original 1040 bracelet.
Some slight TLC will be granted, but it seems to be running very well.

From Omegas official site there is some interesting info on a 1021 caliber:
The 1970s saw the introduction of quartz technology to the wristwatch and this also applied to the Constellation line. Some of the most accurate watches ever produced in series were developed for the Constellation line, including the famous Marine Chronometer which is, to this day, the most accurate autonomous wristwatch and the only watch to be certified as a marine chronometer. However it wasn’t a Constellation Marine chronometer that stunned the watchmaking world with a 0 error rating. It was a calibre 1021 self-winding movement destined for a Constellation that held the distinction of achieving absolute perfection when it received its certificate marked “Especially good results”, showing a variation of 0.00 after 15 days of testing in five positions and at varying temperatures.

I am guessing mine is not that precise, but it does show that at least a1021 can not be all bad!

With no divider in the date window, I would have assumed that was cal 751, not 10xx. Live and learn!

I actually mistook it for a 751 before I took a better look in Desmonds excellent reference works. You will also see the Omega logo at the lower half of the dial and the use of mineral glass and not acrylic plexi as giveaways!

Found an interesting remark in the Omega internal technical bulletin on the 101x/102x. I think it is fair to assume that the problems with the cal 100x ruined a lot for Omega?

"Moreover, let us mention that, if this new caliber presents obvious similarities
to caliber 1000, it has nevertheless been entirely reconceived and can in no way
be compared with it."

First time I ever saw such an remark in any technical guides! 😵‍💫
