Overcast here, so going with some 1970s sunshine on the wrist today....powered by Tissot's Astrolon 2250 plastic caliber, a.k.a. SYSTAL (Systeme Total AutoLubrification). Here's a link for anyone interested in learning more about the Tissot Astrolon https://www.watchonista.com/articles/technology/tissot-astrolon-synthetic-revolution.
This 166.041 is my go-to watch for almost any circumstance. On another thread I’ve previously posted that this is my only watch that I shan’t be parted from and that it will have to be taken from my “cold, dead hands”. I love it But I know that of nearly all my watches, this is the one that garners fewest 'likes'. So, despite this, despite the lack of love on OF for this type of case, I’m happy to wear it frequently and to post on WRUW with the knowledge that this will not assist me, if I were so inclined, in 'like/post' farming.
To be honest, mine is the only SYSTAL/Astrolon caliber watch I have ever seen in the flesh, and I had never heard of SYSTAL/Astrolon before I purchased it. I bought the watch based on photos only (i.e., no description of the watch).....it was pretty grungy, which I found somehow attractive. When I received the watch and removed the case back I had a WTF moment, like the medical examiner in a SciFi movie doing an autopsy on a "human" cadaver only to find alien internal organs inside....but that sort of learning is part of the fun of our hobby, for me anyways. The watch cleaned up pretty well with some glass cleaner and a cloth. It keeps very good time despite being nearly fifty years old.
Just had my bracelets adjusted so one on each arm today. The Uncle Seiko beads of rice. Very nice endlinks fit. And the new Oris
