Lately I seem to have a small group of watches that I gravitate to on a regular basis and the Citizen is well up there.
Not expensive, doubt it would ever be collectable etc. etc. but it works for me and surely that is all that matters in watch collecting ?

Now enough of all that nonsense, this evenings wearer 😀

Been tied up and mostly absent from internet fun.

I've worn this '54 Omega automatic with 344 movement for the past two weeks. I got a new strap for it, finally ditching the previous strap which had nice texture and hue, but was too short for my wrist. It made me not want to wear the watch so often. The watch is delightfully accurate, showing to be within a minute after two weeks. I didn't keep up with seconds.

Liked the old strap better. The color matched the watch well and it had a soft textured finish. Didn't wear well on the last hole though.

Early evening errands in the '65.....had to be this watch.

P. S. I was parked while the girls ran in to do their errand. Oh, and I am ok with the car not being a Benz or BMW.

Dad owned a '53 Stude way back when.
I actually have a ‘53 Stude Starliner hardtop project....I’ll get around to it someday....beautiful design.

Rail since Thursday afternoon.

Nice! I see you're into billiards Dr No. My wife is addicted to playing pool and it's her favorite past time. If you happen to get to Connecticut send a message and you two can rack 'em up. I play but not anywhere near her level of skill 😁

My game is bank-the-eight.

One of these days I'm going to take up straight pool. Not many play that game anymore; it's what Newman and Gleason played in The Hustler.

Best,

Raymond Loewy (sp?) was a genius at design. The '53 was his masterpiece.

Back from the watchmaker with the correct mineral crystal ground and fitted (no more acrylic!). Sourced from one of our generous and kind veteran members with an encyclopedic knowledge of this era.
Love the bevel!

Wasn't Straight pool why there was those numbered beads strung up over the pool tables years back? To help keep score? A bit of trivia is back in the 70's my family owned some commercial property in Meriden Ct and there was a very large pool hall with the very unoriginal name of the "Q-Stick Billiard Parlor". I remember as a kid there was those strings of beads over the tables and a big picture on the wall of Jackie Gleason shooting pool there. I never seen him in person though. 😀

Yup, the beads were for score-keeping. My best run in straight pool so far is 25. Willie Mosconi held the record for the better part of a century at 526. It was broken last year by John Schmidt who managed to sink 626 called shots in succession.

Here's video of Schmidt last year with a run of 400+. He broke the record a few months later.
