Happy Sunday-Funday Everyone! I'm continuing on the "red theme" - with a bit of GS artistry. And throwing in some newspaper verification as well. 😗 😗

Great WWII watch! That bracelet though... I could be wrong, that looks uncomfortable and too small.

Thanks for your kind words and concern, I can assure you it is not uncomfortable, I was just twisting my wrist to get a good shot. As the pix show, many adjustments were built into the design.

This particular bracelet was issued to my Dad's cousin, and whereas my dad was recalled to the States after the battle of the Coral Sea, his cousin continued fighting in the South Pacific and ended up in Japan with the occupying forces.

Just back from a pusher replacement. Sourced the part on Ebay and a local watchmaker repaired it overnight. All good finally.

New watch thanks to @kyle L

Wow! When that was new it must have been truly radioactive; look at those radium burns!

Very cool story! I have my grandfather’s issued Elgin “Ord Dept” watch, he was also in the Pacific theater until the end and with occupying forces before shipping home. They may have tread some of the same ground.
I’m glad it’s comfortable. I did notice you had another notch to go on the band.

Mexican food tonight.

Wearing my Gemini IV Speedy to celebrate the successful splashdown of SpaceX's Dragon capsule today.

(apparently, my camera's focus is on the beer bottle and not the watch) 😀

Looks like a more user-friendly design than the usual bracelets made in the Philippines for the USA forces back in the day. Nice adjustments for sizing.
