My new Marathon GSAR again today. Since I don’t have three hands I can’t adjust the bracelet, so it will remain on the nato for now 😁

Solidarity at Home: Day 035

The One.

Until Mrs. Jones gave me this watch as a gift a few years back, I had never owned or worn a watch that cost more than $100. Of course, I was utterly blown away by the generosity of the gift. But the beauty of this mechanical wonder...I still get chills each time I put this watch on. Sure, my personal taste in watches has evolved since wearing this one for the first time, but for me, this will always be The One.

Note: Mrs. Jones has been the recipient of lovely gifts from me as well, including a diamond-encrusted Ladymatic, a titanium Planet Ocean, and a LOT of sparkly, precious jewelry 😀

Our heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one, friend or colleague, or is suffering physically or financially in this pandemic.

It's been a while since my last WRUW today post.

This watch has come back from Gallet service recently and I have been wearing it every day since the Covid-19 debacle has been upon us.

Sometimes referred to as an MC-12H "Evil Snow White" . . .

And in a change of lighting conditions . . .

Wow!

Back to the Fleiger today

In response to your post showing your Laco, I had to dig mine out. This one needed much work and parts when it came my way. I made an offer contingent on my being able to get the parts I needed. My supplier had what I needed. Movement by Durowe which was acquired by Laco, possibly in the late 1940s or early 1950s. Owing to the bitter feelings toward a Germany after WWII, many German products for export were marked FOREIGN, as is the case with dial and movement of this one. I like the watch, but especially the dial.

Durowe was in the forefront of producing a battery powered watch. In the early 1960s, Timex wanted into the electric watch business, so they bought Durowe. I have included a picture of a battery movement marked Timex. But it is a Durowe movement, and superior to the Hamilton Electric of the era.
