Now yours is the second one I have ever seen and yours is in beautiful condition--Thanks for posting-- This is one of my go-to watches.

Mine was originally owned by a former managing director of Rolex in Canada. It has never been used, being what was called a “live sample”. This fellow was the head of the Canadian branch of Gruen, up until the company was dissolved, and began marketing generic Swiss (non-Gruen) watches. When he left Gruen, he started with Rolex. Rolex and Gruen had a close working relationship over decades. They shared many movements in their various models. Many movements that were produced for them by the Swiss watchmaker, Aegler. I believe Aegler May have been jointly owned by the two companies, jointly.

I worked for a Rolex dealer up until 30 years ago. When the then managing director of Rolex in Canada found out that I was a collector, he gave me two NOS Gruens, including the driver’s watch. I sent him a 26 of Johnnie Walker Black Label, and he was furious with me!

Trying a new HDStraps croc on the Tudor GMT. I dig it way more than I expected to.
