The
heresy continues. I’ve put an Ed White on a BOR.
This is actually
one of my favorite watches and has been in my rotation ever since it arrived. Despite
many problems. I’ve referred to it as my Istanbul Ed, because that’s where it came from. Yes, as my track record proves, I’m intrigued by taking risks.
The eBay seller
did disclose that the hour register didn’t reset. Thank you OF, I was able to source a replacement hour register hammer.
There was no inner cover when it arrived. When I put one in, I discovered that the inner cover didn’t hold the movement with the caseback on. The caseback was convex!
Three photos from the eBay listing:
I liked the bezel, the pushers and the crown. I knew before it arrived I was going to want to replace that caseback. I just didn’t know how badly.
Some shots from today. I have not touched the case. These photos even surprised me a little.
The movement and the pushers have been trouble free and it keeps excellent time. I typically wear it at least twice a week.
Just another lesson in eBay risk taking. All in, service and parts, including bracelet, about $15k.
