Off to great start. Got the blue screen of death off my computer and whittled it down to this message
Looks like a new PC for me today
Still the Spaceview. In its approximately 55 years of existence, the movement (it was a transplant to this case) had never been serviced. It was losing about 10 seconds per day. When the Accutron reached the market in the early 1960s, it was quaranteed to be accurate to within one minute per month (2 seconds per day). So I decided to strip it, condition it, and move the regulators (there are two regulators on these). Pleased to report after a 24-hour run, it is 3 seconds slow. Will regulate later.
Guess who's back in town tonight ,a surprise early return of the SmithS 6RG . My watchman called to say it was ready to collect a week earlier than expected , but I was on business 100 miles away so couldn't collect it myself. So Mrs CPR did the honours & here it is back to its best after some gentle tlc ,& why not as its about 72 years old . I'm pretty sure it will see another 70+ years unlike myself & I wish it all the best for its future life, as sometimes you come across items that you are merely looking after for the next generation 👍
