My vintage phase continues this week. Sporting my Seamaster De ville circa 1965 today 😀
Forgot how comfortable dress watches are to wear on the wrist

Wearing another project today, a 105.012-66CB with a nice case but service luminova dial and hands. It came to me this way, including the really nice DON bezel, from eBay earlier this year, for $5.5k, which seemed like a screaming good deal (a known vulnerability of mine.😗 )

I did replace a flat bottomed chrono hand that was on the watch with the drop end that’s on it now, but still luminova.

I just replaced the modern dust cover I found in it with a period correct one.

Had originally thought of leaving it as I got it - and using it as a sleeping watch (yay luminova!)

Now thinking of returning it to tritium. I already have a dial, just need the tritium hands. I doubt I’d bother replacing the service pushers though - the narrow necks look sort of cool.

Part of me still wants to leave it the way I found it. Sure, its face is a little ‘white’ instead of yellow, but the watch as a whole ‘works’ the way it is. Hard to achieve when you start replacing stuff (again).

I’d love to hear opinions...
Now this qualifies as a daily wearer. Someone was asking if a vintage Speedmaster could fit the bill as a "daily beater". Firstly, I hate the term "beater" especially if it involves valuable, irreplaceable vintage pieces. What you have done really makes this watch an everyday go to, save the bezel. If you ding that, a few $$$ will go out the window.

Picked up my 6159 7000 after a full service yesterday. Crystal still has a few scuffs, but it's an honest survivor, IMHO. Got it on the wrist today.

While at the shop, Jack, one of the proprietors, waved this tasty little morsel in front of me. We put a deal together on the spot. Lovely rose gold case, hands and applied Arabic numbers and indices. VJ72 with a high degree of finishing. Been wearing this one today, too.
Would love a peek at the movement of the chrono....!

Anyone know what kind of Omega this is? Found similar models but not exact.
Broad arrow? Without the broad arrows? This looks suspicious.never seen one of these.

Aqua and Terra

This guy finds an Omega on the beach. All I ever find is a broken plastic shovel from some kids plastic beach fun set.

Classic! Great watch
I've loved this watch since I first saw it in 1984 on Magnum P.I., season 4. But I adored it from afar, fearing a 40mm watch would be too small on my 7 3/4" wrist. Instead I bought a Rolex DSSD. I had been wearing Omega Seamasters exclusively for more than a decade, 43.5mm up to 45.5mm. I liked the wrist presence, the style, and the prices.

As often happens, my tastes changed and I was no longer looking for a watch that entered a room before I dd. I wanted style, but also a little bit of subtlety. Never bonded with the DSSD, having bought it for it's insane specs. But the geometry was all wrong - too tall a watch and overly bulky, at a time when I was looking for elegance. A little over a year ago I traded the DSSD straight up for the GMT Master II, sent it to Rolex for service that included new hands and dial, and here I am. Two watch rotation; the GMT and a Speedmaster. 😀
