Interesting, an ongoing auction with 52 bids that was ended because the watch was sold off eBay. If I had been bidding, I would not have been pleased with the seller; especially since the bids had already gone very high for this watch. But I guess that is par for the course in the eBay swamp.

It was not even close to when I purchased but hodinkee article pushed it higher than anyone expected. It was crazy after the article, I am not sure why the seller still shipped to me and not return my money.

Picked up my 6159 7000 after a full service yesterday. Crystal still has a few scuffs, but it's an honest survivor, IMHO. Got it on the wrist today.

While at the shop, Jack, one of the proprietors, waved this tasty little morsel in front of me. We put a deal together on the spot. Lovely rose gold case, hands and applied Arabic numbers and indices. VJ72 with a high degree of finishing. Been wearing this one today, too.

Saw one like this for sale a couple of days ago at CT (could be the very same watch?) and I was very tempted.

Lovely chrono. Wear it in good health!

Wearing another project today, a 105.012-66CB with a nice case but service luminova dial and hands. It came to me this way, including the really nice DON bezel, from eBay earlier this year, for $5.5k, which seemed like a screaming good deal (a known vulnerability of mine.😗 )

I did replace a flat bottomed chrono hand that was on the watch with the drop end that’s on it now, but still luminova.

I just replaced the modern dust cover I found in it with a period correct one.

Had originally thought of leaving it as I got it - and using it as a sleeping watch (yay luminova!)

Now thinking of returning it to tritium. I already have a dial, just need the tritium hands. I doubt I’d bother replacing the service pushers though - the narrow necks look sort of cool.

Part of me still wants to leave it the way I found it. Sure, its face is a little ‘white’ instead of yellow, but the watch as a whole ‘works’ the way it is. Hard to achieve when you start replacing stuff (again).

I’d love to hear opinions...

Eberhard Extra-Fort mono-pusher (the lower "pusher" is actually a slider that pauses the chrono). A relatively obscure brand, but popular for their 39mm cases.

One of my favourite logos! Beautiful watch

Thanks. I believe it may be the same watch you saw- it was indeed in CT. The heft of the case, and overall warm color of the gold and dial "had me at hello" upon holding it.

Love that Speedmaster!

I'd be willing to leave it alone except for the fact that the lume application gives an impression of untidiness. It could be the crystal and some scratches distorting it, but appears to be evident despite any crystal imperfections. I may be incorrect in my perceptions, but the lume itself appears slightly unprofessional.

The crystal is all scratched up. It was much worse before I ‘gently’ cleaned it up a little. It looked like someone wearing the watch fell across concrete pavement. Don’t ask me how the crystal could look like that and yet the bezel is entirely undamaged. Here’s some before shots:

I admit, I haven’t worked hard enough to remove all of the deeper marks, but it hardly seemed worth a lot of effort because I wear it regularly.

And, a shot across the crystal today.

I am ashamed!

Heh!

And ashamed you should be.

Seeing that view of the crystal I recant my judgment of the lume.

Only kidding.

What a stroke of luck that the watch survived whatever mishap that marred the crystal so! Surely someone didn't just install a handy used crystal, battered though it be, on a really nice watch.

Even the best of our watches are mysteries (unless you bought it new).
