That would likely be Hell, Norway. .... The tour began in Esjberg, Denmark. ... Many of the cars had been ferried from Harwich, England, to Esjberg.
That must have been a while ago. The Harwich-Esbjerg route was cancelled back in 2014, I used to use it regularly after DFDS moved it first from Hamburg, then to Cuxhaven and finally to Esbjerg. I recall the Commodore Class cabins being particularly nice, each opening onto their own private lobby/dining area. Such a pity. I really enjoyed those overnight trips on the Sirena (and Princess?) Seaways.

Is there a word for the mixture of elation and doom, when you realise that you have not looked at WRUW for almost a month and there are 80 pages of fabulous watches that you really must look at before you go and do the things that need doing ?

A while ago, yes. It was ten years ago. As much as the rally had been planned to include Back, that year, it was not possible to include Back in the rally, for reasons I don’t know. The fellow I got the story from is now deceased. But the British cars that were in the rally traveled by ferry to Esjberg at that time.
