Ooops! I must have been multi-tasking doing research for the WRUD forum. Here is the link https://www.sgrolexclub.com/forum/t...-the-rolex-watch-company-the-humble-beginning After its association with Abercrombie & Fitch, Rolex entered a similar agreement with Zell Brothers, a high end jewelry store/chain based in Portland, Oregon. These watches were marketed under the name "Turtle Timer". I recently acquired a Zell Brothers Turtle de Luxe thinking it might have been one of these Rolex collaborations. It turned out to be a later model manufactured by Movado. I posted photos of the watch and some background last night on the "Arrivals, What Did You Buy Recently" forum.

This is really quite interesting. I’m especially interested by the line:

These Abercrombie & Fitch watches are probably the rarest of all the cushion oysters, in all my life I have only ever seen one; it was signed "Abercrombie and Fitch (Seafarer) on the dial and the case and movement were signed Oyster Watch Company.

Now of all the people I’ve spoken with, nobody seems to know of an earlier watch called an Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer than mine (which is approx. 1938/39).

But the trademark information states that even though “Seafarer” was filed in 1949, it was actually in use from March 1930 so that predates mine.

I need to try and find information on this Oyster Watch Company Seafarer. Do you know the guy who posted the original thread on sgrolexclub ?

Have you ever heard of this @georgetownhoya ?

I guess I should move this away from the WRUW thread so maybe PM if you know something more.

Two days in a row with the 16710 BLRO, and no Speedmaster. That's gotta be a record for me!

Wearing my first Eterna which just arrived today! Loving the waffle dial layout and hidden crown. A nice size at 35mm.
