Another four day trip to the mountains is behind us. I just took my sacrificial Seiko off, and while scanning my collection for a watch to wear, my eye settled on my early 1950s Seamaster, date at 6:00, with the caliber 355 bumper automatic movement. Movement picture courtesy Dr. Roland Ranfft’s archive.
Vixa Type 20, Hanhart caliber 40, manufactured circa 1954. As the FG (“fin de garantie”) service marks show, it was well-used even before retiring from service 30+ years ago and still going strong.
AT Golf today. It looks like I’m exploring some abandoned home in the ruins of Pompeii, nope, it’s just my boring suburban hallway at home.
Added a black strap with white stitching. Will add a NATO strap when I get around to it. View attachment 595249
Had to switch to this this evening. I do remember 49yrs ago, our dad let us stay up late to watch the moon landing. It will forever stick in my mind. He knew several of the men on those missions (WWII pilot), so it was close to his heart!!
