Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope.

Looking at the back, I've actually wondered if the Max Bill signage might just have been scratched on by a prior owner...with about my level of skills...😲

But besides seeing pics of the back of other examples, it does appear to be a reasonable facsimile of the artists signature!

YaY! and Happy Monday!

This one has been feeling neglected. Haven’t worn it for a year or so. Caliber 341, circa early 1950s. This one is a survivor. Condition when it came to me was such that many would have considered it as a donor, useful only for parts. Gold shell case on it was destroyed. Beyond doing anything with. Dial was equally bad. A quick check in my stash, and I discovered that I had a steel case, and much better dial. With a hand-made case clamp, new mainspring, recondition, replace sad hour hand, non-genuine crown, and voila. Here is the result. An excellent runner. Considering the terrible abuse it had endured, I was delighted that the movement survived in quite good condition.

I bought this a over a year ago, but due to various problems it only arrived today ! Thanks to an OF’er who helped out big-time with delivery 👍

It’s a first version of the Junghans Bund (the 88/0110) which was very quickly superceded by the better known model with the wavey bezel (the 88/0111). Dial is more like a civilian one but I managed to get a correct one with a movement just last month. The 88/110 normally had a coin edged bezel but there’s not even a groove on this midcase so it never had a bezel. There’s at least one other bezel-less 88/110 out there so it might be a correct variant. I’ll have to try and research things...
