After 6 or 7 weeks, we have the irksome lift span welded together. This bad boy clunks around with the best of them:
Today the men from Steel America put down the last of the sub arc weld. Tomorrow we UT examine it and if it goes like the rest, they will be finished.
Just short of 1000' of weld. 672' of 1" thick weld and 320' of 2" thick weld. They only had 2" of rejectable weld. Phenomenal performance. It doesn't look like much when it's over, but it takes a lot of talent to do this right.
The painters had to show they can keep pace too:
In the coming days the deck will be pressure washed, the remaining studs will be welded on (2000+), the railroad system will be installed, concrete placed over the entire deck, curbs placed and all the ancillary bits installed. We do the float in on Sept 21 when the tide is right. Once last shot of the Franken-Seiko before I swap it for something less bash resistant:
I was very very lucky to have won a give away on Instagram. A man named Jordan Litt runs a business called @retrowatchguy and sells vintage watches. I won an awesome Raven Trekker 40, a couple Toxic NATOs, a watch roll, gator strap, and watch head holder made by @Watchdisplay. So today on the wrist is the newly arrived Raven Trekker, and this thing is awesome
