Have you ever given serious thought to your "work watch" and the image it projects? Just lately a broken spring on my mkII has forced me to think of just that. The MkII totally flies under the radar; it's incredibly reliable; capable of taking a beating; yet, the inner watch nerd knows it houses an 861. It can satisfy all things. But what takes its place? The Speedmaster attracts too much attention; a Rolex too much of the wrong kind. The Seamaster might work, but it feels too small and fragile. Going with the Polar Explorer II last Friday, I found myself talking to someone about the four Cellinis he'd bought, his two Mulsanne Turbos and where he could get a diamond encrusted Sub. I have no real problem with any of this, you ant diamonds, you go get yourself diamonds.... But I was in a northern dustbowl wearing a flat cap. It seemed a little incongruous. Today, I've gone with my old Titanium. Let's see if this works better:
