Got up at 5:30 this morning (see X-33 alarm), to make our way to the Huangshan Mountains in east-central China.
While not too well known in the West, this is one of China's most popular and oldest place of tourism (by old I mean over 1000 years!). This is not smog, BTW. We were in and out of the clouds all day,
Warning: It's not for the faint of heart with respect to heights, or physical inability to go up and down thousands of steps in a day.
Many of the Chinese style paintings we see in the West are depictions of these vertical granite peaks. This rock above the cliff is called "Monkey gazing over a sea of clouds".
