The "50" hash mark is intriguing...
I noticed that too. Just guessing since it's the first time I see it, maybe for regularity racing? 50km/h is also a very common speed limit, but I don't think I'd care enough to time that on a 300SL.

My unromantic theory is that it was done to (a) distinguish the 50 from the 300 and (b) add a little red accent to an otherwise sober dial (the roulette date wheel only does that every other day).

Beast Mode 2.0. This one was delivered to Belize in 1972. I bought it from the original owners son.

@photo500 brought it back to life for me. He does awesome work.

Today the watch went to the Veterans Cemetery, helped pickup and dispose of several thousand wreaths, burned hundreds of US Flags as part of a flag retirement ceremony.... It was a working watch today, like most days

Away from the office and away from work. No jacket, no tie, and no dress shoes, either. Instead, a relaxed flannel shirt, old pair of jeans and comfortable winter boots today. And of course, my favorite PO on a NATO strap!
