So here is my new "investment" (as we so desperately attempt to justify our madness...) I purchased this mint Rolex 16710 GMT II error stick dial where the II after the GMT looks like an 11 rather than Roman numeral II. Purchased lower than the average going rate on normal GMT. Happy Labor Day!! 5cdafde613521859c6a2ea0eb9f41fea.jpg 447dce3e0ba21a65a5e99b5576818d57.jpg

Hi Bienne,
I purchased from of a reputable forum member at the beginning of the year and below is an extract from his sale description:

“barn find” 145.022-68ST. This one owner watch was purchased at an estate sale, just had a brand new (OEM) mainspring from Otto Frei installed, and is keeping excellent time with all functions working correctly.

Bezel: Features an extremely rare “220 bezel,” which is one of a small number that left the Omega factory with a misprint on the “200” spot in the normal Tachy bezel. While 220 bezels are typically seen on early 145.022-69’s, it’s my firm belief that it is original to this watch. I’ve drawn this conclusion based on three main pieces of evidence: 1) a 220 bezel would not have been used as a service bezel from Omega (especially given the extremely small window of time in which they were accidentally produced), 2) the 27.3M serial is towards the very end of the -68’s, and 3) the watch was not owned by a watch collector who would have actively sought out this bezel. The only possibility is that it was swapped on by a third-party servicer in the 70’s or so, but I highly doubt this to be the case given the rarity of these bezels.

Cheers

Hi Barking mad
That is the kind of stories I really like. Thanks for sharing it. Really cool!
Best, Bienne

Picked up a new travel watch that is set by via radio and then adjusted to local time via GPS. Been trying it out this weekend. It's huge but seems to wear well.

A cheap ebay purchase, my pearlescent dial cal. 552 Seamaster 165.0003 from 1965. It has some bubbling to the dial but I just love it.

I can't get over the design of the hour totalizer sub-dial...It's so freekin' cool. It gives this chronograph its character and identity...🥰

Tonight, I pulled out this one that hasn't seen the light of day in quite some time.

Long overdue, me-thinks!
