While the main Commencement was Saturday morning, the individual college Convocations (where each name is read) were spread throughout the weekend. Ours was 7:30PM Sunday night. This is a completely full basketball area for just half of the College of Engineering graduates and families.

US University factoid: While U of I UC is ranked in the 40's overall as a US University by US News and World Report magazine, their College of Engineering is raked 5th in the nation, after some pretty famous institutions like MIT and Stanford.

If you'll forgive one more braggard Dad's factoid: Being a year ahead and having a summer birthday, my son is a degreed Engineer at the tender age of 20. (Can you imagine being 20 again?)

I looked and looked, but people were dressed warmly because it was a cold a blustery week-end so unfortunately I did not spot any cool watches in the wild there. Thanks for asking, though.

This pic is from this morning because the lighting was so bad last night and we got home way past midnight. The lines on the dial are hair shadows. :D

Wearing a favourite again, after TOO LONG! Caliber 355, date at 6:00, NOS case # 2627, circa 1950-55. Resurrected after discovering it in a parts bin, case supplied by Tritium from Madrid. The calendar is a bear to set, owing to the genuine a Omega service crown, so I only put it on when I pull it from the vault, and discover it happens to be on the correct date. One of several favourite Omegas that I own. image.jpeg
