I picked this up last year but the dial was beyond salvation, so I have put the original hands safely away until I can find a correct dial and treated it to a modern service dial and hands in the meantime.
A switch earlier this eve to Nomos, it is no doubt very nice but I will probably return it to my Friend who swapped this with my VC from 1940s for a change. Not exactly my type of watch, too modern perhaps.
I've worn three or four others over the last month, but I've missed this one. Date was set to the 1st, so it was easy to re-set to the 30th. Circa mid-50s, cal. 355, date at 6:00. Original dial, not refinished, original hands. Love it!
IT'S MUTHA-IN' RACING SEASON!!! (real racing watch is currently awaiting a new strap, so I'm wearing my favorite weekend-on-the-couch watch) Anyone else watching the Daytona 24hr?
My first Rolex in some time. Have owned many models over the years (Vintage Oysters, AirKing, DateJust, Submariner, etc), but this simple and beautiful Explorer 14270 really fits my style.
