Because once you can identify them, you know which ones to buy.

Maybe the distant future...as in when I retire from Delta in 8 or so years. I read the page that I was pointing to in the pic that I previously posted...it's sort of confusing. Is there a Cliff's Notes for the MWO book?

That doesn't look like the traditional Cliff's Notes.

OK, here's the Coles Notes (as known in Canada) version:

If you want to buy a Speedmaster, then buy a good one. Don't buy a shitty one. If you do buy a shitty one, make sure you know exactly how shitty it is, and have a good reason for buying it.

The trick to knowing a good one from a shitty one is explained in the following pages.... read on...

Should have looked deeper. It is in fact a telemeter track. Just never seen it laid out in this manner. Very cool!

    Cheers

OK..so if it's 5% shitty...is that acceptable shittiness? What is the standard cool guy acceptable shittiness threshold?

A277, will be changing the strap later today. Got a nice one from the French that I think would suit it well.

Among the items I collect is watch collector books and price guides. Your watch shows up in many of them that I have, but the only one I have in which your Waltham is specifically called "Ruby" is the "Bible" I mentioned. This book is the Shugart, Engel, and Gilbert Complete Price Guide to Watches. My latest is the 2014 edition, but the 2016 book will be available soon. Before anyone chooses to take me to task at having called it the "bible", that is purely a catch all name. It is not a real "in depth" reference on any one make. People delight in pointing out what they perceive to be errors and omissions in the book. It is about the closest thing to an "encyclopedia" of watches, and it is a very good book for a beginning collector who has a thirst for basic knowledge. You aren't going to learn nearly as much about Omega (for example) in this book as is available to you on this MB. Same goes with many other makes. No book collection is complete without brand specific collector guides. And the Internet, of course.
