My Canberrish is a little rusty. Is that when the expression "fair dinkum" comes in? E.g. "Very nice watch, mate... and a fair dinkum as well".
Basically "Fair dinkum" is an expression that politicians on both sides use to try to convince less educated working class voters that they're on the same level in a sense. Dinky Di is much the same. Similar to when American politicians wrap themselves in the flag and try to convince their constituents that they're "regular Joe's" or whatever.
Ha, I'll visit Edinburgh next month... Should I pack swimsuits instead of moon boots then ? For the record, a greenlander day... again ... and a tentaive of review in the proper section ; hope you'll like it Best - Fred
