Thought I would take my late father's 1980 Timex Mercury out today. I wish I could remember the circumstances as to how he came to purchase this watch. I vaguely remember him having a nice watch that got stolen and then he wore this for a while.

This early trench watch by Omega, ~1910.
I'm looking for a leather-maker who can make me a brown strap similar to the one it's on, 14 mm size.

My Longines ref. 9006, cal. 19AS on a new alligator strap from Kelaran...

It suits the dial patina better I think.👍

Love the versatility of this new (old) guy - so far I've had it on fuzzy brown suede, wine croc, and for a casual Sunday, this faux Hermes 'dink ...

Been a while. I thought I would wear an old favourite as I head out to run some errands. This is my 50 cent farm yard sale Certina. I paid her $2.00 for it. Condition was such you could tell it had been a farmer's watch. He wore it 'til it quit, and he threw it into a box. Re-done dial, chrome plate the case, crown, crystal, rotor post, condition. Hard to tell exactly how much I have in it now, as the case replate was a barter deal, done by a friend who owed me. But close to $200.00 (Cdn.). The movement is a Kurth Freres, a movement that was used by Hamilton, among others. Beautifully finished, good design, pretty to look at. I think it compares very favourably with a lot of the big name makers from circa the 1950s. I love it!

The Kurth Certina movement. From Dr. Roland Ranfft's movement archive.
