People have come to call a 'destro' either an intentional or unintentional modification of the watch to be flipped 180 degrees. None left the factory that way, though.
The only thing needed for this 'destro' mod is the standard cal.1002 date wheel from other watch models that use the cal.1002 (the ploprof had a special date wheel made to accommodate having the crown at the 9 o'clock rather than 3 o'clock position). Accordingly, if done intentionally, a standard cal.1002 date wheel is obtained, and then the movement flipped. If done unintentionally (e.g., a watchmaker thinks that the watch should be re-assembled with the typical crown-at-3-o'clock arrangement found on other watches), then the person assumes that a 'new' datewheel is needed in order to make the watch work, and gets a standard cal.1002 date wheel to 'fix' the 'problem.'
On the other hand, when a ploprof is missing parts is being cobbled together for sale, it is difficult to find the correct ploprof-specific date wheel, so a regular cal.1002 date wheel is obtained instead, and the movement is flipped around to accommodate it.
Here's a documented account of the watchmaker error:
