Finally, after a five month process, my calendar at 6:00 Seamaster! This began when I was rummaging through a can of Omega bumper automatic parts watches, looking for a part for a member of the repair fraternity. I found the centre wheel he wanted. I discovered the waffle dial that you see, plus the rest of the movement partially dismantled, but no case! I gathered all the bits and put it back together. That's when the process started. OF member Tritium became aware of my search for a case, and wonder of wonders, he had an extra NOS steel case which he made available to me! On closer examination, I realized why the watch had been "retired" about 40 years ago! RUST! After a lengthy process of glass brushing, polishing parts, replacing a few parts from my "stash", soaking the pillar plate in alum to dissolve a broken screw, cleaning, and fitting into the case. The result! I have a couple things yet that I need to do. One is to replace a peculiar "stair-step"like case clamp, and then put a better strap onto it. For the time being, it is my favourite watch. Oh yes! In case anyone notices (and I am certain someone will), I used a generic crown. That will be replaced with the genuine item, over time.

I love to see and hear about projects like this, fantastic job!

Very clean dial and on an original bracelet, nice! I would be proud to own that one!

Rough work day called for a rough beater.

Might go for a swim. Brand new beater gets its first outing instead!
Seiko something😵‍💫. Now it remains to see if the waterproof rating holds.

A file photo, but I'll be wearing my 1940's JLC this morning. It's been "on the bubble", but I am torn about letting it go as it was one of my first vintage Jaegers and the stepped case is a favorite. 😵‍💫

Perhaps sign that I may be getting dangerously near the line separating enthusiast from collector. 😲

I don't usually wear yellow (or pink) gold, but I'll continue my 'trend' this morning:

My go-to X-33 on Solar Impulse strap. Note how the hands can be seen and basically read from such a shallow angle. YaY!
