This 6309 7040 suffered a bad fall yesterday so am taking it under “medical observation” for the day.

I keep a few of the “beaters” hanging on 6 1/2-foot high hooks on the inside of a closet door. In removing yesterday’s Orient I accidentally pulled this watch off a hook and it plunged to (watch) face plant on the oak veneer over concrete slab floor.

The old Seiko seems bulletproof as it has happily run for near an hour despite the heavy blow it received yesterday.

We have a red alert heat warning in London over the next couple of days. I appreciate that ‘hot’ here is probably ‘normal’ to many of you but it does mean an earlier walk for Jim and me …
In the old days, when the weather was nice, there were smiling suns in the forecasts. Today, it’s all “code red” and “climate crisis.” The solution, however, is surprisingly simple: We should all just stop having children and shut down what’s left of industry in Europe. MENA and China will provide.

It really doesn’t matter if your hot is someone else’s normal. It’s what your body is used to. We had an early heatwave breaking 100f with pure humidity I was miserable. I was just getting used to winter.
We have not yet this year seen 100F clear down here in our part of Texas. I'd have to go see Spruce in London or you in Connecticut to find our Texas heat!

I'll be doing more yard work today in the comparative Arctic blast of only 95F high forecast for this afternoon. Hope my toes don't get frost bitten!

Thank you. It’s a 66-8050 and ones in nice condition are on eBay for around £150 👍
