I took it out to use it, and it started counting down in 5 seconds intervals… so we all know what to do! 😁

I missed Speedy Tuesday (yet again), so this is catch up day. My one owner (me) 345.0808 from 1990. Introduced in 1980, the first Speedmaster model with a sapphire back. Calibre 863 gold plated movement. Thirty six years old, looks and runs like day one.

Slowly working myself up to buying a 165.024 (or Eberhard Scafograf or Doxa 11804-4) by trying on this Hroudland for getting an idea of how they might wear (Helson Sharkmaster 300 is also on the way).
I have to say while the brown dial is a bit too sparkly for my taste this watch is a lot of bang for the buck 😀
Forstner endlinks don't fit great, will have to try my US endlinks next

A perfect late 60s dress watch:
  • clean jet-age case, edging towards a funky cushion
  • crosshair dial
  • blue stone hour markers and fluted bezel to show luxuuurrry
  • bragging about: 30 jewels, shock protection & day date

1967 Seiko 8306-8040 with a monobloc sea lion case.

And a MemoSail lurking in the background.
