This might help explain the project a bit better:

The concrete work is fundamentally how they build the majority of the houses and larger constructions here in Vietnam. The frame is reinforced concrete and the walls are then single coarse rendered bricks. We have only used for foundations though.

The timbers are a mix of Acacia or Asian mahogany, Pine and Chinese Redwood. The translation is a bit loose but the Acacia or Mahogany is extremely hard and dense.
Wow!
I read through your thread up to Feb 16. "Unusual construction technique" is an under statement. I've built on hilly sites in Malibu before but this is nuts! The trenching alone is a daunting task. I can see the structural concept is a reinforced concrete grid with point loads. Are you on bedrock or does the whole foundation rely on a relatively evenly distributed load? I would have to have massive foundation walls here or caissons to bedrock and grade-beams...basically destroy the site with heavy machinery then replace it artificially. Not to mention what I'd have to do regarding lateral. I'll follow your progress on the thread. It looks like you've finally got to "the fun part!"
Good Luck...You are indeed Barking Mad!

I’ve done a beautiful job of procrastinating today, not working on charts, lab reviews or a CME exam which has to be completed by Tuesday…feeling good about the wrist game though with Space Ghost wearing the Fratello x REM strap from last March, and the other watch on a strap from Soturi. Have a great afternoon, evening OF!!

Time pull out the big boy for Sunday brunch after spraying 15 gallons of weed spray this morning. Recent rains in SoCal fueled the weeds like wildfire… Anyone interested in AP shot me a PM
