OMG it's OMC... 😀

Today being a quiet holiday, took care of a once or twice per calendar year ritual...

My OMC features the Cal.1516, which was used in the Gen 2 version. Forum member @Lou P owns the OG-OMC with the Cal.1511, of which only 1,000 were made.

Two new Renata batteries are on the way from Amazon.

In addition to the annual black-eyed cicadas we get in Jul/Aug, many of us in the US occasionally get some red-eyed periodical cicadas. For us in the Chicago area, it's that time now for our 17 year cycle "brood XIII" cicadas. If you're a map reader, this may help.

You may also notice that 13 year "brood XIX" are also out this year and in some places they overlap, such as east-central Illinois. These simultaneous emergences are very rare, and of course are over-amped by the media as if it's happening everywhere. It's not.

Anyway, 17 years ago, during our last emergence I took this wrist shot which served as my avatar for a while on some of the older forums (before OF). The X-33 was critical in recording the year!

Well, I put the same strap, which I've been preserving, on the same X-33 and just got back from a pleasant walk.

The next time they come around, I'll be 73, and hopefully still enjoying watches and sharing wrist shots. YaY!

A top contender for the best WRUW post of the year, maybe the last 17 years!

Looking forward to a return to this subject in 17 years 😀

Mrs. noelekal suffered the sad loss of her brother earlier this year and we went to North Dakota to his memorial service in early April. His wife sent a number of things home with us that had belonged to Mrs. noelekal's father who passed in 1987. Two watches came home, one being this early 70s (?) Waltham. It had a 343 battery in it, obsolete since the early 1990s. A 344 was said to be the replacement so I ordered a couple and just installed one. Adjusted the bracelet to fit me and have been wearing it this afternoon.

Forgot that its a Monday Memorial Day holiday so set the day incorrectly. It's seemed like Saturday all day to me.

I'll probably pass this one on to our youngest son. Our eldest son will get her dad's men's diamond Bulova when it is serviced.

Anyway, this one looks pretty nice to me with its blue dial.
