Phew...just got home. Totality in New Castle, IN was great. High whispy cirrus clouds did not hamper visibility of the sun's corona with the naked eye.
This is a terrible picture because automatic settings overexpose so much it ruins the eclipse, but with binoculars I was able to spot a small looping flare or prominence at the 6 o'clock side of the sun. Also I think it was Venus that popped right out to the right of the sun (not shown in this pic). At least the pic shows the sunset-ish colors at the horizon...horizons all-around.

Then came the price to be paid. Only about 4.5 hour drive to totality...but 9 hours of eclipse traffic on the return... No regrets though, YaY!
The drive from SE Illinois just sucked! The two beers I had didn鈥檛 help. What a great experience despite logistics.

345.0808, 1986

My 345.0808 from 1990 sends salutations, currently 8 seconds fast. It gained a couple seconds in the last 24-hours. Could be because it came close to running down on Monday.

After enjoying that amazing celestial event yesterday, I felt compelled to wear the Speedy of physical celestial origin:

Speediorite!
