Kind of a retro look. Remembering an era when (some) men wore leisure suits, loud print shirts with three buttons undone, gaudy junk jewellery neckchains, hairy chests, platform shoes (remember those?), shoulder length hair, facial hair, and watches like these. From the early 1970s. One of two today. The other being my Rolex Oyster Date-Just which was set to the second on March 11 when returned to service. That’s 24 days, worn constantly, and at present, one second slow without having either stopped or being re-set. Largest variation in 24 days was -2 seconds at one point.

I was scrolling eBay a couple of months ago, looking at Seikos and came across this 37mm/19mm lugs automatic/quickset date change watch. It had been serviced and the owner subsequently explained that the original owner had somehow lost the crown, put the watch in a drawer and never bothered getting it repaired.

It was on auction with a starting bid of £60 no reserve.

I was the only bidder and, blimey, it runs like a train and has a huge power reserve as you might expect from a watch that was never worn.

The sort of eBay find we all look out for.

Second day in a row! Unusual for me. Vintage Tropic suits this one.
