Yesterday was an horological trifecta for me as a few watch related things came together. I was the high bidder on the De Ville Deauville 155.006 highlighted by Ash in the OWOEbay thread. It arrived yesterday, and is amazing!! Love the feel, the fit of this watch, the bracelet is so unique and comfortable, and it’s keeping time like a boss!!

The second leg of the trifecta involved my Kermit. While visiting family in Chattanooga, TN for the week, the watch started running quite a bit faster then its normal +2 seconds daily. We returned to Maine yesterday, and using a compass I confirmed the Kermit had become magnetized during our travels. The one and only watch thing I can do, other than change bracelets, straps and buckles is demagnetize a watch, and so yesterday I demagnetized the Kermit. It’s back to its typical + 2 seconds a day, and is back on the wrist as well.

The third and final leg of my horological trifecta involved the arrival of a new strap for my Speedies. Fratello recently highlighted G.L.C. rip stop straps from vintage camouflage fabric. I like the aesthetic of rip stop watch straps, and I have a great green rip stop strap from Bulang & Sons. Vintage tiger stripe rip stop fabric (whew, what a mouthful!) is a whole other level of cool in my eyes, and I quickly got the new G.L.C. strap on the 3861.

The G.L.C. strap works on the 3861, but it will look amaze-balls on my more vintage Speedies. It’s snowing, and I’ll be snow blowing soon, so no vintage watches outside today. I hope this finds the Forum well, and those in the US affected by this week's storms safe.

That DeVille is very funky. Cool watch.

Well ... after dutifully photographing the WRUW choice today I got distracted over on our Forum pocket watch thread, forgot where I was and posted it there. So, we'll try it over here.

New arrival. Never imagined I’d buy this watch but when it was offered at $500 it was hard to say no. Turns out to be a great gym and daily beater.

Kind of a retro look. Remembering an era when (some) men wore leisure suits, loud print shirts with three buttons undone, gaudy junk jewellery neckchains, hairy chests, platform shoes (remember those?), shoulder length hair, facial hair, and watches like these. From the early 1970s. One of two today. The other being my Rolex Oyster Date-Just which was set to the second on March 11 when returned to service. That’s 24 days, worn constantly, and at present, one second slow without having either stopped or being re-set. Largest variation in 24 days was -2 seconds at one point.
