1986 6309-7049 for today…my first “pilot watch”…I was wearing it while headed out the door to go to work on that terrible day…Delta called and instructed me to stay home…never forget…
A watch with a story. It came to me as a result of a barter deal. I repaired a couple watches for a friend, and ended up with an Omega watch. Not this watch, exactly. The Omega came to me with a gold filled case that appeared to me as though someone had deliberately set out to destroy it! It had a horrible dial. But surprisingly, the bumper automatic movement was in good condition, it needed a mainspring and servicing. I had a donor Omega case on hand, a better dial, and I did the required service, including a generic crystal and crown. The bracelet in an after market clone with an Omega buckle that was too small for me. I built a 1/2 link to extend the bracelet. This would not be a grail watch for most people, but it is a good runner, and I like it. It will do for our upcoming jaunt in the trailer, for 5 days. Circa 1952-53.
