Just picked up this hoary ancient from my watchmaker today - a 1939 Hamilton "Linwood". Bought it almost four years ago, but other watches just kept interfering with getting it serviced (it was running after some TLC). Love the extreme curvature and long, slender case.

Morning Forum! Packing up for a week on Pleasant Lake in Casco, ME. My focus has been on toys and substances to use in the coming days… thankfully my wife recognizes we’re a family that likes to eat. Have an awesome day/nite OF!!

I bought a summer watch from Forza Gecko, they offered a “lightly used” chronograph for about $220 shipped from the UK. It arrived, I took the bracelet off and put on a temporary leather strap. I’m looking for the perfect blue and orange NATO for it. Seiko movement, my first ever quartz. It seems like a good watch at a good price:

I think you could easily fit a couple more six packs in there!

I wore my sacrificial Seiko over five days away, trailering in the Rocky Mountains. Back to civilization, and a more civilized watch. I wear this one only rarely as it looks pokey on my big wrist. This is a Rolex Oyster Royalite Observatory from 1939. Manual wind, Oyster case, 18-jewels, adjusted to six positions, temperature, and isochronism. Movement by Aegler for Rolex. This was one of the best for that era. Still pretty good.
