I'd like this twice if I could . I was working in a guitar shop when Dave Gregory came in. Just doodling on a Fender Jaguar if I recall. A young lad came in a while after. Stared. Recognised him. Summoned up the courage. You're Dave Gregory of XTC aren't you? Yes, he said, looking around (possibly for a biro). Show me the intro to Towers of London? And he did, note by note.

·Listening as I type to a recording of my sons band playing “Snow” by Red Hot Chili Peppers. My son (16) is the lead guitar player in a cover band they play a range of things, and they are my favorite group, but I’m a Metallica/Maiden fan at heart.

·I have been a fan of Sam Cooke since I was a kid, but I have always thought the recordings were a bit too clean and over produced. I recently found this live album and love it. Apparently, the record company be sat on it for 20+ years because it was to raw and gritty.
