Okay...at $120 a pour, I had something a little more wallet friendly. Couldn't resist a pic of Pappy though!

Having had a "little" experience with Pappy I can give you their actual front line pricing:
Pappy 9yr. old - $90.US
Pappy 12yr. old - $120.US
Pappy 15yr. old - $150.US *
Pappy 23yr. old - $230.US
* Best for the bucks
Now good luck finding any Pappy except in a few stores in Louisville, KY.
Not to mention at a much bigger price 馃檨
Is this not made anymore? Being Canadian, we can鈥檛 get it here. I was hoping I鈥檇 find it in Atlanta when I鈥檓 there for the South Sweet 16鈥檚 in 10 days.....
Pappy is still made but it鈥檚 not Pappy. Pappy was made at the Stitzel Weller distillery, it closed and gradually they sold off the remaining juice. Pappy is currently made to spec at a massive distillery in Indiana with about 30% of all US whiskey. Old Van is buffalo trace that runs a higher wheat ratio in the mash bill. I鈥檝e got 4 bottles of Jefferson select 17 which are the last true Stitzel Weller juice and I鈥檒l sell them at a discount to OF members for 1k. They run over 1,200$ currently.
Wow!! Is old Van better than Buffalo Trace? I鈥檓 not a fan of Buffalo Trace. I like Basil Hayden as a comparative.
It鈥檚 a little complex as it goes into the mash bill. Most people prefer wheated bourbons as they tend to be sweeter and smoother. It鈥檚 also aged longer so you get more oak notes and smoothness. Buffalo trace is not wheated and tends to be about 3 years old on average by volume. The bulk is younger but mixed with older stuff to refine the flavor. There is single barrel Trace out there which averages about 4 years old but there is no age statement on it.
Boxed wine is the best invention since the hydrogen bomb and artifical super virus.
Thanks for the lesson! I鈥檒l look for some to try it. I鈥檓 really a scotch fan but I鈥檝e tried a few bourbons and there are some very nice ones. My favourite scotch is Dalmore 15 year old.
