Ouch kicking myself following a Hibiki 17 but the background is up there.

Purchased the crown royal rye on a whim I'd never seen it. $16 a bottle who cares if it sucks it goes into the cocktail collection. Not bad a little thin but that is to be expected. More maple then you would expect for a rye.

The background should be a little interesting to Single malt lovers.

I know it's very un-Canadian of me, but I hate rye...

A very competent substitute when you don't wanna spend on a good Champagne, Freixenet's Reserva Real was a cava made for Spain's Royal family in the 1980s:

Introduced our selves to new neighbours with an 16 year old Ancnoc, 20 year old Littlemill, 20 year old Tomatin and finally a 37 year old Bunnahabhain. I think we made a good impression......

Time to escalate. Same distillery going up to 167ppm of peat. Most heavily peated run under 40ppm.

This didn't come from my collection. I was staying out of home and wanted a relatively cheap Burg to buy from the nearby wine store and this is all they had. That said, it, you are right about the vintage. Aroma and flavors were pleasant enough - cherry, some cedar. But the there was no depth nor length. I used to drink the 99 vintage of this wine, and of course, that was way better!
