That would be good, you will have to bring one of your speedies, convert me to the dark side. I go there on visa runs, will let you know next time. enjoy Vienna and Vietnam, watch out for the Naipalm.

No problem with Naipalm, it is home for me these days. Give me a shout when you do your next run.

    Cheers

Hijak, I like your style. It's inspired me to crack this open for the Cubs/Cards game.

Very nice AAAKK, I'll have to try that...had my windows open a little earlier and the wind was blowing just right and could hear the announcer at the game.

    Love the thread!
Unfortunately it is Passover at the moment, so no whiskey or beer for me. But looking at my cupboard at the moment

I am keen to try more Australian whiskey. Sullivans cove (2nd from right) recently won world whiskey of the year - none of the top five were scotch!

Just had a nice big glass of a '94 Chateau Momtelena Cab with dinner at my friend's house. Nice way to start a meal. Didn't blow me away, but pretty good.

Columbia Crest is producing some outstanding wines.

Did you pop & pour or give it some time? I've noticed that many aged Cabs need to have the cork pulled, a small amount poured out so the wine drops down to shoulder level, and let sit for 4 to 6 hours - and sometimes a decanting is necessary to remove the sediment. I use the small glass poured out as a sample to see how the wine opens up after a half hour and an hour.

I wish I could drink Bordeaux. The pencil shavings odor turns me off immediately. :(

However, I do know that bottle! What year? We brought my last bottle of 2000 to a BYOB last year and everyone enjoyed it (except me because of my stupid hypersensitivity to certain aromas).

Opened a 1.5 L bottle and poured it into an appropriate Reidel decanter for 90 minutes before taking a sip.

Don't tell everyone else, but I've been underwhelmed by quite a few highly regarded '94 Cabs too. '95 was a better year IMO because I like the darker fruit taste, while '94 has that sour red cherry characteristic.
