Enjoying some late harvest Vidal while watching the game...bit of a blowout over Germany but a solid start to the tournament (World Juniors - a holiday tradition here) for Canada...

Now watching the Raptors at the Spurs...

I am not the biggest white wine fan …. but needed for the first course on orders from the boss. Did go down very well, but I covered the bases with a beer … or three anyway :0)

Drinking this with the wife. Half for dinner, the other half for after the kids are asleep. It’s really really good.

Pulled an old one out of storage. Young at 6 years when bottled. But spent its entire life in a sherry cask.

Nose is tobacco, cherry, amaretto, leather and raisins.

Taste is carmel, sherry notes, cherry pits, lost a bit of abv to the angels since I opened it 6-8 years ago. (Forgive me father for I have sinned)

thick mouthfeel even with a still 45 abv or higher. Long finish marshmallows, vanilla, custard and exotic spices.

hell of a Dram at what is 400+ usd. I paid $80 or so when released.

Even with the oxidation and angel share it’s excellent. I remember it in its prime, and it was epic. Is it worth $400 now... if it’s got a good fill line I’d say it’s one of the few at that price I’d say yes to, and the only non Jim McEwan scotch at that price I’d recommend.

compared to my original tasting notes, it’s lost a little of its buttery ness from oxidation, and maybe some of the smoothness. So if you want a big impressive bottle... go for it a few are floating around for sale from the batch of just over 200 bottles.

Great beer to boot, an awesome example of the CA style IPA.

Firestone Walker makes some great beers.

Sorry to say 805 isn't one of them...
