I don't know about today--wait, I do--but this is the Covid-19 tower we've been building the past few months.
my first Boulevardier in the making, turned out pretty good I just need the correct glass to pour the next one cheers!
Nice Russell's 10-year, that certainly holds up well to a cocktail. A place by me just got a barrel pick in, and I'm enjoying it.
So yesterday was a BBQ and some Orval.... Interesting back story to this honest Trappist beer which is worth a read.. I normally lay them down for six months but shared some 'fresh' ones with a friend … You can tell it is a quality beer but very lively when drunk young (hence no glass shot). I have five hidden away which I plan to sample at five year intervals to see how the taste changes. I think they are coming up for their 5th anniversary soon...
Discovered Marstons Old Empire IPA today... Lovely thirst quenching pure gold 5.7% IPA... balanced Citrus notes but not too much and a nice dry finish... perfect accompaniment for cutting the grass in the hot sunshine PM today (thirsty work :0)
I don't tend to make cocktails at home but when on the menu Negroni is my weapon of choice … with a rusty nail and vodka expresso as alternatives ...depending on mood / company and energy levels - nice picture / might have to buy some bottles for more home options ....
Everyone is taking the pledge... been a week for me ... but a very good if hard earned result. Hit the Delirium early.... bad/yet good move on a Friday. A Special / fun and strong beer - not tried it before. Omer still takes the prize. ..but Bobeline is best in my recollection...but I cant find any locally (UK) to prove that....Next week is a seminal one for me (in the influential sense :0) - catch you all on the other side I hope..
I love seeing the differences here and between the Rolex what are you drinking! It's fantastic! Weller 12 for us No pic, but very tasty!
Back in the land of the living and enjoying a few beers / a break this week as the UK weather goes downhill. Some Hofbräuhaus original which caught the last of the sunshine, but for taste like my photo it is maybe a bit overexposed / one for tourists. Then MC Chouffe - dark and complex 8% Belgium been which is still surprisingly smooth and highly recommended (and brewed by Gnomes in Fairyland… which you will believe after a few of these). A high fermentation beer that re-ferments both in the barrel and in the bottle… dubbel Abbey beer style meets Scotch ale. Rounding off the week with my first full bodied Hofbräu Oktoberfest beer… which I really savoured. At 6.3% is not a session ale maybe… but of course it is.. eins zwei G’suffa … Prost !!
Ok - On Friday I went out for my first socially distanced pub pint (no food / not a restaurant visit) - bar beer selection was limited and table service only... but nice to be nearly normal again and out with friends.
