I had some quarter cask Friday night...was great! We also had this on the weekend... Penley Estates Shiraz that we bought at the winery in Coonawarra several years ago and carried back to Canada in our luggage. It was fantastic.
I'm also a fan of the Laphroig quarter cask. When I picked this QA Cask off the shelf, I thought it was a quarter cask of some sort, but it's actually a second maturation in white oak (quercus alba, QA). I like it, although the online reviews tend to be unfavourable and indicate it's over priced. To each their own I guess.
Mount Gay XO... but unfortunately my bottle is now empty... will have to pick another one in the cellar... It became my favorite candy since i tasted it
Word is that 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 Chileans that are from foothills vineyards (as opposed to the more common central valley) are prime candidates for some aging.
