I had some quarter cask Friday night...was great!

We also had this on the weekend...

Penley Estates Shiraz that we bought at the winery in Coonawarra several years ago and carried back to Canada in our luggage. It was fantastic.

I'm also a fan of the Laphroig quarter cask. When I picked this QA Cask off the shelf, I thought it was a quarter cask of some sort, but it's actually a second maturation in white oak (quercus alba, QA). I like it, although the online reviews tend to be unfavourable and indicate it's over priced. To each their own I guess.

Messias 10yr tawny port. Not as good as Graham's 10yr, but pretty good value at the price point.

Only $15, but like a lot of Chilean cabs it punches above its weight, as the saying goes.

I've heard quite a bit about South American Cabs. Wonder how they age?

Word is that 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 Chileans that are from foothills vineyards (as opposed to the more common central valley) are prime candidates for some aging.
