In view of all the celebrations of the last few days I thought a little of this was in order, and very nice it was too!
This year also marks our rather special wedding anniversary so the rest will probably disappear in November.
This today. Can鈥檛 remember if I have posted it before but this is amazing. From California. Two absolutely non-mainstream grapes, can鈥檛 remember having seen this blend before. Highly recommended.
While I鈥檝e been an a self imposed Mexican lager kick... ( I love the fact that so cal craft brewers are jumping on this!!!)
I鈥檝e been tasked with creating the opening craft cocktail bar menu for a high end Italian restaurant.
I give you the (working name) Italian Manhattan.
1 to 1 rye to Montenegro amaro. Black walnut bitters and Italian cherries. To be served in a coupe glass.
My Italian G&T and others will be posted eventually.
At a friend's Saturday night for dinner, and since he was in Japan recently (coaching the Canadian archery team at the Olympic test event in preparation for next summer) he picked up some new gin there, so we sampled those plus a couple of others he had that I haven't tried yet...all were tasted neat to start with.
First was this one...
One word...no. Didn't like it at all and it tasted more like an "off" whisky than gin.
Next up was this:
Tasty, but VERY sweet. Maybe a good one for mixing if you have a sweet tooth.
Now the two Japanese gins, and this was the first:
Pretty good. I didn't mind this one, but I've had better gins. Last up was this one:
I really liked this one - juniper was there in good quantity, and that's what I like in a gin - I want one that is very botanical so tend to favour those in most cases. Had this one in a Martini and it was great...however that and the beer didn't help my tennis game in the hot sun and humidity on Sunday...馃槜
